The Empowerment podcast Founder and the Stories of the south Founder would like to thank everyone who participated on the podcasting Survey.

The survey started on the 22nd of June 2022 and ended on the 27th of July 2022. The survey had over 22 participants out of 10 that its was primarily intended for.

The two podcasting pros started this survey out of the urge to educate South Africans on what is a podcast and open up the podcasting industry to everyone. The survey in total had about 10 aspiring podcasters and 12 podcast lovers.

The project went on to being named "All things podcast" this name was inspired by the reaction and response we got from the survey.

This huge platform was definitely not built by a single man, its has a well functioning team that priorities equipping its listeners.

This podcast has about 85 countries listening to it which are Brazil, United state and India this podcast has a total play of about 3193 even for this podcast it hasn't been a sailing journey its had its difficulties.

The survey and its outcome

The survey was divided into four part the first one was on General questions, the second being Personal Experience, the third being want to start a podcast and lastly personal details.

One of our major question that most people struggled with was "what is a podcast?" this one question opened up a lot on how people understand a podcast and what is their assumption of a podcast. But one answer that was very close to the actual explanation and definition of a podcast

"A podcast is an audio document fill that is accessible through the internet, its divided into episodes and seasons and can be listened in different platforms and in different times."

The survey sparked an interest to a lot of people and opened them up into pursuing their own podcast.

The second part of it was the The personal experience, This set was aimed at establishing what people know as a podcast and to also search if what we have been having aligns with what is supposed to be a podcast.

In this section we discovered a lot of interesting podcast that we didnt know of and some that are already well known to the public, namely the most mentioned podcasts were Our Journey podcast by Mpoomy and Brendan Ledwaba, Podcast and Chill, John Maxwell podcast, Godly Dating, Love Journey, Stories of the South and Empowerment podcast.

Those were the most repeated podcast and that showed the work that has been done by these podcast. We also went into looking at the relationships between YouTube and podcasting. A lot of times people easily twist Youtube shows with an actual podcast, a lot of people have started a Youtube channel without putting it in an actual podcasting platform and this has made their effort a bit seemingly effortless. Look at it this way we have retail shops and all of them have different prices, brands and targeting market.

But its very possible that what you found on the other shop you can get it on the other shop. Could be at a different price, under a different marketing maybe even in a different location. So with podcasting and Youtube.

Both platforms are respectively good, work in different ways and definitely made for two different audiences. That doesn't mean you can't expand your audience and reach to either

platforms.

What is important is knowing what you are building, both are shows but one is made for an audience that prefers listening to their content and the other watch, this also talks on the length of each episode in both platforms.

Religiously on a YouTube channel videos don't take longer than 30 minute, but some videos do even reach an hour on the other side we have a podcast and for podcasts religiously they do take 30 minute and even reach an hour and the audience prefers episodes in such a length. With podcasts an episode can even be split into series.

Want to start a podcast?

In this section we were talking on how to start a podcast and the important things to consider when planning to start a podcast. A short version of this was for one to start a podcast they have to do a research. Not just any research, one that will help you navigate a positive path in becoming a better podcaster This will also talk on you discovering new podcast that align to the nich your in or interested in.

The truth is there is no right or wrong in podcasting, as long as you're having fun, being consistent and creating content that's really all that's important.
